The 9's are a four piece post punk outfit that have been making music for over three years.

They spent the first year and a half of their time together as a four piece slogging hard at rehearsal studios around Edinburgh trying to perfect their sound and get their music circulating. They spent a good 6 months working hard on a regular basis developing there distinctive post punk style before finally having there first gig at Bannermans in November 2007.

Since then the band have gone from strength to strength playing gigs around Edinburgh at places like the Ark, Henrys Cellar and most memorably at Cabaret Voltaire in December 2008. They have developed a strong reputation with there raw energy and their front- mans intense, and passionate performances.

In the last two years the band have developed a wealthy catalogue of tracks. Amongst the 9's influences are bands like Joy Division, The Fall, The Doors, The Stone Roses, and The Baby shambles to name but a few.

The band is comprised of their front-man/songwriter 27 year old Stephen Scarcliffe. An avid writer of music and crime fiction, Scarcliffe has worked hard over the last 3 and a half years, honing his unique singing style, writing song after song, and perfecting his mesmerising stage performance.

Bass player/singer/co-songwriter is Stephens brother, 33 year old Adam Scarcliffe. Adams driving punky bass lines are one of the main components of the 9's sound around which the song is often built.

Rhythm/lead guitarist is the 32 year old Alan Dixon whos power chords, effective use of slide guitar, and screeching solos, are also an integral part of the bands style. On the drums is the 30 year old Tommy McEwan. A self taught ever evolving drummer, Tommy is steadily improving all the time and has came on leaps and bounds since the band came together.

Joining Music Comes First Records is a major stage in pushing the 9's to the next level. After meeting with Jay McLeary and John Meikle, they were excited by their ideas and energy, leaving only one choice!

The 9's are proud to be a part of Music Comes Firsts exciting vision and feel they are more than capable of bringing a strong, dark new flavour to the Music Comes First family.
